The beehive molds are excellent for preparing traditional honeycomb or wasp nest sweets. To prevent the dough from sticking to the mold and to make it easier to remove, lightly coat each piece of dough in powdered sugar, and there's no need to grease or flour the molds. When you place the coated piece of dough into the mold, you can easily shape and remove it without any issues.
Recipe for Beehives:
Ingredients for Beehives
- 1 pack of ladyfingers
- 100 g powdered sugar
- 60 g butter
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons rum
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- ladyfingers for closing the beehives
- 2 tablespoons nuts (ground)
Ingredients for the cream:
- 100 g butter
- 1 egg yolk
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tablespoon rum
- for a dark cream, add cocoa to taste.
Preparation Steps
Grind the ladyfingers, add the other ingredients, and work the dough, which should be chilled to set. Press pieces of dough into the beehive molds. Then create a small indentation in the beehive, fill it with cream, and cover it with a ladyfinger (or a baked round from shortcrust pastry). Once the beehive is finished, turn it out onto a flat surface, preferably onto a pastry board, and let it chill in the refrigerator. To ensure the dough does not stick to the mold and is easy to remove, lightly coat each piece of dough in powdered sugar, and there's no need to grease or flour the molds. When you place the coated piece of dough into the mold, you can easily shape and remove it without any issues.
